Mobile devices are the most pervasive “computing” devices in the world. Worldwide mobile phone subscriptions have hit three billion already with a total user base of around 2.3 billion. Only half of that number, 1.17 billion, have internet access via a computer. Mobile devices are already the computing tools in the developing world, where many countries already provide banking and payment services that are unavailable to those in the developing world. Once mobile devices become fully internet-enabled, this trend will only increase. How to design usable, pleasurable, engaging and effective services on mobile devices with all their specific limitations, requirements and opportunities?
